Be Carefree and Zen

It Leads to More Happiness

1- It’s OK to be detached sometimes

Sometimes the result you expected and the actual result end up very different from what you had planned. It’s OK to be concerned, but it’s also OK to just appreciate the moment, enjoy time passing by, and be fulfilled with what you already have, even if it is different from what you had imagined. There is a saying that all roads lead to Rome. The journey is as important as your destination – whatever turns and detours you take on the way to reaching your goal.

2- Enjoy every day like it could be your last day on Earth

Be in awe and wonder about everything that is around you. It can be the warm sun on your skin, or the brisk cold air filling your lungs, the simple beauty of a river stream, the smile of a child or a grandmother, the taste of the first strawberry in season, or a caramel bite that reminds you of your childhood. All these little and simple things need to be appreciated for the precise moment of enjoyment that you are granted. To help keep track of your happiness, every day before bed, you can list 5 things you appreciated throughout your day – it will help you feel good and relax. Over time, you will notice that stress will start weighing you down less and less. You will start to feel more carefree and optimistic about your life as a whole.

3- Channel your emotions and choose your mood for the day

You can decide your own daily reality by choosing what type of mood you want to have for the day. Choose to feel full of confidence, or have a clear vision, or feeling at peace with yourself. Or you can decide to feel in love or compassionate, either with yourself or with someone else. If you’re not feeling confident on a certain day, then set low expectations for yourself – you might be pleasantly surprised!

4- Go out and travel

Being outside, breathing the air, seeing the light of day, absorbing the sun’s rays, will automatically and immediately help to improve the way you feel. Sunlight gives you vitamin D, which increases your serotonin levels and thus gives you a feeling of well-being and serenity.

Seeing and interacting with other people, whether they are strangers or people you know, will also increase your happiness. Discovering new horizons and visiting new countries can change your mindset and help you empty your head of stressful thoughts. Being in a place you don’t know is an excellent exercise to learn to be more carefree and self-confident.

5- Find your stress triggers

Make a list of all the factors that effect your mood. It can be certain people, certain music, a particular place, or a specific environment. Once you have identified these stress triggers, try to avoid as many of them as possible. By reducing the stress factors around you, you will suddenly feel much more relaxed and can take the time to build up your confidence.

6- Meet people.

Meet people who are happy and have good intentions towards you. If you surround yourself with someone with the same vision in life, same or similar goals, many commonalities, this should make you feel better. However, the more you communicate with other people, the more you think about other things and stop ruminating about your own issues.
